Bits and Pieces

Really suffering from a sore throat and tight chest today and I have so much I SHOULD be doing but decided to update my blog instead.... This is a small area in my studio.. I love my sweet little old slate... Sometimes I have inspirational sayings on it... Sometimes my to do list... This journal I collaged for myself from magazine pictures as I have to go through them from time to time or they will over run the house... Some sweet little heart charms before they are soldered... and a beautiful old studio photo of a baby... Just thought I would share....
Take care

You can laugh!

Here I go again.... Moving things around in my studio.... I have so much on at the moment that sometimes it makes me feel unmotivated so this is how I get my creative juices going again by moving things around... It is OK to laugh.... my family usually does....

Seventeen Years in the making

I had some one ask me on my last blog, how long has this look taken to get... It was a really great question as it helped me think of a new blog to write about.... I would tell anyone that asked me that question that I will never finish this house because it is a constant work in progress... It is sort of like an oil painting to me that changes with every mood that I have and every passion that I feel in my heart... I love this house... I will never forget the first time we walked into it and the smell of all the old timber and you could tell the wood fire had kept this tiny little cottage warm and was the focus of many beautiful meals shared in its tiny little space.... The top photo was what it looked like when we bought it 17 years ago this month... The second is a photo of the lounge room and then of course my studio/sewing room at the bottom... We had to replace most of the external wall with new timber as it hadn't been painted in over 50 years which was a huge expense that took as a long time to afford.... Back then we just had very basic furniture and then I moved onto a very true country style and as I have grown in myself and in my craft and seen what the world has to offer.. I have refined my style to what it is now... A sort of rustic/french simple style... So Andrea I hope this helps answer your question, just a little....

My lounge room II

Oh it is a cold winters day here in my little cottage as you can see my fire is on... Just a couple of photos of my new lounge that my dear hubby picked up yesterday... It is a little bit modern but I love it... I am going to make lots of cushions for it out of old linen as I think that would look really nice and it is wide enough to use as a bed for sleep overs for little people..... I will probably put some more white platters on my walls and maybe another couple of little mirrors (as my house is only tiny, mirrors are wonderful to make the place look bigger).... Have a look at my daughter, Kirstie's blog to see where our other lounge chair is now. She loves it...

My lounge room

Well it a very chilly night here in my little studio... I actually took the day off today and had a wonderful day with my kids and some of their friends... It was so lovely... They make me smile so much... This is a photo of the living area in our house, we call it our lounge room... The blue table is made from an old door from my Nan's house that has since been demolished... I am showing you photos as this week I bought a new chaise lounge that we will pick up this weekend... The club chair is now in Kirstie's room as her reading chair and she loves it... I love my large apple picking ladder, my nan's old dresser that hides our TV and my favourite old blue depression cupboard made from old boxes... I have a beautiful collection of white ironstone bowls that started with a gorgeous old one that was my Nan's.... Will show you some more photos of this room after I get the lounge in and things moved around...

In the midst of winter

In the midst of a very cold winter here in my little part of Australia, I can't believe how beautiful the roses look... I am a terrible gardener and I am constantly killing things but my front garden is fairly pretty... Lavender hedge in full flower as well at the moment... These pink roses were nearly totally dead from the drought about 6 weeks ago but we have had a little winter rain and they are so happy now... These come from cuttings my mum got from my Nan's garden so they are very special to me...
