Mother and Daughter Charms

Well what a fun day I have had soldering these new charms... I must say they are some of the sweetest charms I have created thus far... You can see the rest of the charms on my web site. This weekend I am hopeful that my dear husband might help me fix the bed situation and then I want to paint a wardrobe (no built-ins in this house) and possibly the bottom of an old sideboard of my Nans... If I get anything done I will be sure to post photos. Also need to work on some little bags and journals for the web site...

Something Special

Well what a lovely day I have had... I invited a dear friend over to spend the day, to look at magazines, to eat yummy food and just chat and hopefully inspire each other just a little... She inspires me often as she is so talented in her garden, her artwork and really anything she puts her mind to... I love her gentle spirit that guides her through life.... Anyway when she walks up my front step this morning she had this gorgeous little creation in her hands... I get older tomorrow, so what a lovely surprise it was... It was a ginger cake and the icing nearly matched my table. It was on the sweetest little vintage plate and had hand picked flowers on it.... What a lucky girl I am...

Make over - Before - My Bedroom

Well I am finally up-to-date with all my orders so I have decided to treat myself to a little decorating... This is sort of what my bedroom looks like now, the only difference really is the little suitcases are actually in my sewing room now and the chest of drawers in actually on the same wall as my bed... I live in a tiny 3 bedroom cottage... As I told you in one of the previous posts I have a new light blue iron bed and my hubby will head to town tomorrow and buy us a new mattress as this one is so old, it is terrible... I am going to head into town this morning and buy a can of my favourite paint (Dulux - Chalk USA) and empty my room and start painting... Hopefully early next week I will have a post with it finished.....

Nanna's cupboard

Well I was sitting here trying to think of what to write tonight... When a photo of my Nan's cupboard came to mind... I love collecting old painted furniture and lucky for me I have a few lovely pieces that came from my Nan's house. This piece resided in her tiny little kitchen of her 3 bedroom house... She raised 7 children there and I must say it always smelt of wonderful baking.. She used to make a loaf filled with currants and she would skim the cream off the top of the milk after milking the cows to make it moist and yummy... Straight out of the oven she would brush it with milk and sprinkle it with sugar... I sometimes have people over and they ask when are you going to buy some new furniture but they don't understand that not only are these pieces beautiful but they have a history that I want to preserve and carry forward...

My love of old linen

I just spent four glorious days on the coast of Northern NSW's... It is just a picturesque place. We walked on the beach each morning and celebrated my husband's 40 th Birthday while we were there... It was a nice break but I wish is could have been longer.....One of my favourite antique shops is in a tiny little town called Bangalow... They have beautiful old gauze front cupboards, large old washing baskets, timber trugs and much more... It is more of a place of inspiration for me as there stock is a little expensive for my purse strings... This time I was lucky enough to pick up some gorgeous old European towels from the 1920's - 1940's. They were found in Europe in an old trunk that hadn't been opened since the war... They are so beautiful, I don't know whether I will be able to part with them... Some had hand embroidered initials on them and they had never been washed. I also, on our way home, found a gorgeous, soft pale blue, very old iron bed... so will post photos of that at a later date... This means my paint brush will be out again soon and I will paint my bedroom...

My favourite place to create

Follow your bliss - I believe
it will always lead you down the right path......

I must say I have been doing what I love for a long time now and this little room has been a great source of inspiration... I am lucky to have this huge work bench that was used in a worshop at one of the local high schools and we bought it for $80 which I think was pretty amazing ... I have my little white petticoats that my Mum made my sister and I. There are journal stacked in my cupboard with inspirational quotes, lists, clippings and drawings but I must say there hasn't been time lately for much drawing... AND there is the computer I create these blogs on... This room is so tiny but it is my space and I love my time here.

Family - the simple life...

I was sitting here in my sewing room looking at my inspire board and realising the beautiful old images of my family are what keep me going every day. There is a quote
The family is one of nature's
masterpieces......

I was blessed to grow up on a 72 acre farm in fertile soil of northern NSW's, Australia.. Life was very simple, wonderful animals to play with, a family that cared about the important things and each day there were loads of hugs... You don't realise how important that really is till you become a parent yourself and all the nurturing starts to pay off... The simple joy of smiling and saying hello to a stranger still is so important to me today even though the world in some ways makes us affraid to be open and joyous about every moment... I am so very blessed to work at home in my little part of the world... To love my friends and family and really just be me... I thank you so much for letting me share that with you... A little deep and meaningful today... but I feel so happy to share a world with such beautiful and creative people....

Friends

I start my day by checking my emails and I am always so excited when I have lovely letters from my friends and customers all over the world... I feel very blessed that I hear about peoples lives and have a sneak peak into their homes and families... I think that is why I have always wanted to have a blog but have been a little scared as my writing skills aren't my greatest asset.. I sit here in my little studio creating and thinking how joyous it is to have met such wonderful creative people through what I love. I read this quote earlier today and thought why not start a blog and share a little of me with the world... So here it is
Risk more than others think is safe. Care more than others think is wise. Dream more than others think is practical. Expect more than others think is possible. anonymous
